Weekend Getaway In Charleston
North and South Carolina have some of my favorite beaches on the East Coast. I know that I am probably pretty biased growing up in the Carolinas BUT even then they are beautiful!
A couple weekends ago we went on a girls trip to Charleston. It just so happened to be the weekend after the big hurricane but even with all the chaos just days before it turned out to be an absolutely amazing trip. The weather was amazing, the beach was beautiful and Charleston was as charming as ever. Since we had 13 girls on the trip we decided to rent a house right off the beach. We went through Island Reality and they are definitely the way to go when you are looking to house a large group such as we were. The house had plenty of room for us all and lot's of community space to hangout with the multiple porches on both the front and back of the house as well as a pool. For us this was great because we wanted to spend the majority of our time outside relaxing either by the pool or oceanside. Sometimes you just need a weekend full of some R&R am I right?
For most of this trip we ended up hanging out in Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island which are great areas to hangout if you aren't looking to go into downtown Charleston a whole lot. There are plenty of places to eat around there as well as everything else you might need for a weekend getaway!
However if you do go into Charleston they have a really awesome outdoor market with various vendors selling all sorts of goodies. I spent my Sunday morning there || coffee in hand... which if you have read any of our other travel posts this wouldn't surprise you, haha || looking for little gifts to bring back home for my little babe. I also found a leather stand while I was there and was able to get my dad a nice wallet for his birthday! I love being able to support small local businesses so I was very excited to stumble upon them at the market!
Downtown Charleston is one of those cities that I love to walk around in and just get lost, so after the market I spent the rest of my time just enjoying the sweet charm of the city. The beautiful homes in the French Quarter, it's rich history, and just walking along the water. I never feel like I have enough time there and I always leave ready to come back! Good thing it is only 3 hours away from Charlotte because I am already planning on going back!
